New to Mt. Elon?
We meet at 9:30 AM & 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings and we are located on Highway 15 across the road from Fox Creek Golf Course between Bishopville and Hartsville.
Services at Mount Elon are created to fit each individuals heart of worship. Our worship style could be characterized as blended. In other words, you will hear hymns and praise and worship.
You will find our teaching relevant and biblical mixed with a casual atmosphere intended to help you feel at home and relaxed.
Church History
Mt. Elon is located on the outskirts of Lydia, S.C., and immediately on the banks of Sparrow Swamp, was organized on the second Sunday in June, 1831.
The name Mt. Elon came from the large number of oak trees in this location. Elon is the Hebrew word for “oak”, thus Mt. Elon is the mountain of strength.
Mt. Elon Baptist Church is a warm and caring fellowship of believers. Our members have supported the Southern Baptist Convention through the cooperative program as well as contributing to the support of the Welsh Neck Baptist Association.
